In the inbox this morning, Triway proposes to increase allowed heights along Capitol Way where a hospital was supposed to be:

Tri Vo has submitted a notice of application for his huge proposed "Bellatorre" development on Capitol Way in Tumwater (see notice below).  He is seeking,  through Tumwater's conditional use process, approval to lift height limit restrictions on 6 of the 10 buildings he is proposing:

"The application includes a request for conditional use permit approval to construct 6 of the 10 new buildings over the building height limit of 50 feet within the MU zone district

I very randomly stumbled across this great case study which comes to us from Canada. Thought it would be an interesting read since we have our own parcel of distillery in Tumwater whose future is still up in the air.

In all, the city worked with developers to keep the historic look and feel of the buildings, which sat on a 2.7 acre parcel. The developers were given several incentives, including reduced impact fees, etc... to keep costs down. In total, over 200 units were created. The avg selling price was initially between $150 to $216K, with 95% of units sold within 3 years.

Here's the document:

North Street Project Blog wants a clean neighborhood, even if they're ripping up North Street:

My father reads my blogs each day and on Friday announced I was sounding crotchety.

I love the word crotchety.

Let's examine it shall we.

From Dictionary.com

crotch·et·y [kroch-i-tee]  adjective  .given to odd notions, whims, grouchiness, etc.

Yeppers, that's me.

I've got a few odd notions this week.  Garbage (didn't see that one coming did you?), Oil and grease spills (photos below) and raw sewage.

Let's begin, shall we?

I want our neighborhood cleaned up.

NO, not the actual construction debris.

Just the effin' garbage.

The Kitsap BlueJackets and the Olympia Athletics will play a two game series down here in early June.

This will be the first "home game" ever for the Olympia Athletics, which despite their name, are a travelling farm team for the BlueJackets.

This series will also be a preview for South Sounders of the level of baseball when the real-deal WCCBL franchise is expected to start playing at the Lacey Athletic Center in 2009. The baseball field that the new team will occupy is currently under construction.

I couldn't find the actual story that talks about the new team on the Olympian's website, but here's a place that points to it.

Saturday 07 Jun
Saint Martin College (Lacey, Wash.)
5:00 p.m.

Sunday 08 Jun
Tumwater High School (Tumwater, Wash.)
5:00 p.m.
