Most of the ingredients called for in The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook can be found at the Olympia Food Coop and maybe your back yard!

Celery, iceberg lettuce, and
Submitted by stevenl on Thu, 03/20/2008 - 4:37am.Celery, iceberg lettuce, and potato chips are my wild vegetables of choice. But I do know some very wild and crazy vegetarians. One of them got real drunk and did some stupid and illegal things, and when the law enforcement officers led him away he lamented loudly, "Wow! I could've had a V-8."
Well, maybe you have to be there in my head to think that's funny.
Silly :)

What?
Submitted by stevenl on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 4:11am.Are you saying a vegetable diet consisting of celery, iceberg lettuce, and potato chips is a bad thing? I ... I ... don't understand. And popcorn too?
So. A serious question. I was at TESC during the wild and wonderful early years of the 1970s, but never heard the term "vegan" during that whole experience. What is the etymology of that word?
Origin of the word vegan.
Submitted by Chia on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 6:42am.I heard that TESC was vegetarian at one time, do you know if that's true?

Vegetarianism always seemed
Submitted by stevenl on Fri, 03/21/2008 - 6:59am.Vegetarianism always seemed more popular at Evergroove than it was in the general population, but I'm not aware of any official school policy on the subject. In fact, the campus food service (Saga) served meat the whole time I was a student as I recall. As I mostly lived on coffee in those days I didn't really pay much attention to such things, so I could be wrong.
There was a guy who visited campus now and then who claimed to be breatharian, i.e., someone who lived purely on air and no food.
Thanks for the vegan word info.
The old Corner Cafe used to be vegetarian...
