From Yahoo! News:

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. - A young man dressed all in black went on a rampage at a gay bar with a hatchet and a gun Thursday, wounding three patrons in what police said appeared to be a hate crime.

One victim was in critical condition.

Police searched for 18-year-old Jacob D. Robida, who was wanted on charges of attempted murder, assault and civil-rights violations.

According to court papers, Robida's mother told police that he briefly stopped by the house less than an hour after the brawl and was bleeding from the head. In Robida's bedroom, officers found Nazi regalia and anti-Semitic writings on the wall.

This episode demonstrates why we should be vocal in confronting groups that espouse such views.

I would consider this more of an aberration than the norm.

For what it's worth, I think the far-right anti-government groups are a lot more dangerous than the NSM.

aberration, norm, what does it matter? hate crimes happen, and they hurt people every time. my heart goes out to the victims and i hope for their recovery.

far right anti-government groups may be more dangerous to the government, but that doesn't mean that the NSM or even violent kids who have been corrupted with some nazi propaganda are not dangerous enough to Queers, Transgender persons, Jews, Blacks, Latinos, Arabs, Asians and other people who are targetted by hate crimes.

Just because there are things in the world more dangerous than a nazi kid with a hatchet and a gun does not mean that we shouldn't recognize the danger and its causes and try to find solutions, while resisting hate propaganda and recruiting efforts and standing in solidarity with targetted people.

I'm not saying we shouldn't recognize the danger, I'm just saying I doubt there's going to be an epidemic of shootings targeting homosexual clubs.

I think this kid is crazy. Hopefully he's arrested and will eventually be given a first-hand experience of capital punishment. I feel sorry for those who have been victimized in this instance, just as I feel sorry for people who are victimized in any instance where they're being shot, stabbed, etc.

Simply because it's a specific group makes no difference to me in the amount of sympathy I feel.

Police: Teen in bar attack injured in shootout

NORFORK, Ark. - A teenager suspected of a hatchet and gun attack in a Massachusetts gay bar was captured Saturday after a rural police officer was gunned down and a female passenger of the teen was killed in a shootout with police several minutes later, state police said.

At least justice will be served by Mr. Robida dropping dead.

He was shot twice in the head during a shootout with troopers and "it doesn't look very good right now" for his survival.
