I just recieved for approval a draft letter to the OPD regarding the last time I was stopped for peaceable open carry by OPD. I won't post it here, but it does make the appropriate statements and threats of lawsuit.

Also it clarifies the rules for lawful carry of a firearm in the common, public areas of the OPD station. OPD has an unlawful sign requiring disarming before entering the common area. One only is required to disarm in secured areas, and OPD would be required to provide a safe storage space for the weapon, and accept responsibility for it while under their care. My attorney has requested they change their policy to reflect state law.

The letter will be going out to OPD soon... :-)

Norm, JT I'm not being anti cop or anti OPD here. I'm just sick and tired of having my privacy rights violated, my right to bear arms trampled and nobody being able to comprehend what a "Terry Stop" is. There is a small culture there that disregards due process and proper actions in favor of stuff that would be more suitable in California, or Illinois...

I seek only a peaceful resolution to this conflict outside of the courts.

More power to you

Damn the man, save the Empire!

Let me know how it goes.

Now that I have

approved the letter, it will go out, and the ball is in OPD's court.  I'll post more news as it happens.  I can't wait to see their illegal "no firearms beyond this point" sign come down.

Please

Keep posting updates and it would be great if you were able to post the letter. I've been reading your entries on 'OC' and find them very interesting and useful. Thanks!

I am not willing

To post the letter just yet.  It still has to be mailed out to OPD.  Maybe after they acknowledge reciept I'll post it.  It would be public info at that point anyway I think...

Glad you like the OC stuff I have posted, I do believe I have made a few people aware of OC and maybe understand it a bit more which was my goal, not so much converts, but awareness.

I know

It should be interesting.  Lesse, I do believe you are one out of 70 or so who do support me :-)  Thanks for the support.

Dude, quit posting about

Dude, quit posting about guns.

Kidding. I think at times it's a bit too much (sorry, but I got tired of reading "The Armed Citizen #") but I'd say this is a unique, local issue.

I had

A discussion with Rick about this particular issue before I brought it out and started posting on it.  The feeling was that it is pretty local and relevant.  I try  to keep my gun related stuff very local.
