I truly believe that the Palin's strategy was to simply repeat the easy-to-remember talking points or catch phrases from the campaign, even if it meant blatantly disregarding very specific questions. It's a marketing tactic: simply repeat a phase enough times until the audience can't get it out of their head.

Here's an interesting point

Here's an interesting point in the debate. It was when Biden choked up about what it's like to wonder if your child is going to make it. When it was her turn to speak...you betcha!...a grinning Palin completely ignored that authentic display of grief. Can you imagine Biden doing that? It was a revealing moment.

Here's Where We Disagree

I think Biden was stiff and robotic. When he did attempt to show some emotion, it was as if he had to force choking up for the camera.

I think Palin saw it for what it was, an act, and ignored it.

Good point Guglielmo

Sarah Palin is always talking about her family and all, but when it comes right down to it, she seems pretty cold. Remember this is the woman who billed rape victims for their medical exams. http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/523708.html

Palin Satire

I was impressed with Palin's presentation. If I didn't know so much about her background, I might actually believe her words about caring for the well-being of the common folk. It appears to me that her presentation was deceiving and manipulative.

Where Sarah got her closing remarks

Good Bye Gov Palin

Now that she has turned in a reasonable performance, the accuracy and ideology of her remarks aside for presidential politics in our age has become little more theater of the absurd, her 5 weeks of fame are over. She will not be missed.

Another count of the chickens

from Orcinus: "And if I had to guess -- especially judging by the way right-wingers are swooning over her winking at them -- Sarah Palin's career as a populist is just getting started, even if she and McCain lose in November. Considering that one of the chief reasons right-wing populism in America has not succeeded in recent decades is that it has lacked a charismatic figurehead, well, she certainly bears close watching."
