Intercity Transit is currently working on a strategic plan for 2009-2014, and a new budget for 2009.

Strategic Plan (PDF)

Budget (PDF)

Here are some of the highlights of the document (Click topic to read more):

  • Consider an increase of .2% in the local sales tax rate for public transportation (currently 6 tenths of 1 percent) in 2009 or 2010;

  • An increase in Saturday service on Routes 62A and 62B connecting the Olympia
Transit Center and the Hawks Prairie area. This will require two additional buses
    and 1,456 annual service hours.
  • The addition of later weekday and new Sunday service on Route 68. This will
    require 1,238 annual service hours.
  • The addition of later weekday and Saturday service to Route 94 connecting Yelm and
    the Olympia Transit Center.
  • An increase in express service connecting Olympia and Pierce County. One
additional all-day bus and one additional peak period bus will be added. This will
require 5,615 annual service hours. This will provide more frequent service and
    reduce overloading during peak periods.
  • An increase in peak frequency on Route 62 connecting Hawks Prairie and the
Olympia Transit Center. This will address current overloading during peak periods.
  • An increase in peak frequency on Route 41 connecting The Evergreen State College
and the Olympia Transit Center. Service would be increased from every 30 minutes
today to every 15 minutes during peak periods. This will require two additional
buses and 3,760 annual service hours.
  • Extension of service to northeast Lacey. One all-day bus will serve the Jubilee and
other residential areas. This will require 4,340 service hours.
  • An increase in the span of service on several routes. Service would start earlier
and/or end later on several routes. This will require 3,000 annual service hours
  • Begin design and engineering in 2009 for expansion of Olympia Transit Center
And finally, a reccomendation to reduce the level of service of the DASH during the non-legislative sessions from every 10-minutes, to every 15-minutes.

I like the idea of

I like the idea of increased service on the 62 route, seems like a route that we should keep as going as possible.

Also, I don't think it will matter much moving the Dash route down to 15 minutes when the leg is out of session. Its a great service, five more minutes won't matter much.

Great summary, btw.
