Here is a sample of what local bloggers are blogging for Thanksgiving. Feel free to add links to your own Thanksgiving themed blog posts here in comments. I hope we all enjoy a relaxed, happy holiday.

***
Thanksgiving seems to always get the short end of the stick. It's the eternal bridesmaid to Christmas's bride. It's the starter's pistol to the Christmas shopping rush. It's the holiday that people always complain is good for nothing more than gaining ten pounds.
I don't really like Thanksgiving. I find that it's just a gateway to the "Big Show", aka Christmas. This year I tried to be a little more conscious of the idea behind Thanksgiving. I really do have so much to be thankful for, so I took sometime and made cards for all my people to let them know how thankful I was for them!
What's that, you say? You'd like some of the recipes? Well, if you insist...

More thanks

I'm thankful for comic books and their long history, which have become my primary interest from an entertainment point of view. Comic books led to my meeting my first wife, and also led to my making a number of friends over the years (some of whom I've lost track of between moves across the country and back, but I still cherish the friendships while they lasted).

I did a doubletake at first;

I did a doubletake at first; didn't realize you were sampling another blog.

Please give me a second grace. Please give me a second face. I've fallen far down, the first time around, now I just sit on the ground in your way.

What a great day

Our household spent Thanksgiving Day in community with the residents of Camp Quixote. First United Methodist Church, where the camp is now located, threw open its doors (and more importantly, its arms) and had a dinner for the camp, members of the church, and others who have supported the camp in one way or another. It was a day full of food, laughter and caring. If I was asked to say the one thing I am most grateful for this year, it would be the blessings that the camp has showered on anyone who has been involved with it and for the support this fledgling Camp Q community has received. I have to admit to being a little sad this morning when I heaved a four-pound newspaper into my home. Stuffed with advertising and headlines encouraging me to shop, shop, shop, I wondered if our call to take a day to be thankful has, for many people, simply become just a prelude to four weeks of excess. But today, I found peace in knowing that some bellies were full, and while not very warm or very dry, the Camp residents are safe and cared for at their home at the church. However and to whomever you say your prayers, keep the camp residents in them. Blessings to all of you.
