A new urban life form has recently come to my attention. The leaves of Fall are clogging up the roof gutters of my house, leaving them constantly filled with water during this exceptionally wet season. Recently I noticed some crows and seagulls picking at "things" in my gutters in a very agitated way. So I decided to finally go up and unclog the gutters.

As the now-fetid rainwater cascaded down the spout as I removed the rotten leaves, I noticed something odd on the ground. Little silver flopping fish had been pulled down. They were about an inch long and had a surprised expression-- but not half as surprised as me!

So check those gutters, fellow rain dwellers.

Uhhhhh

Do you live underneath the Flying River by any chance? Also, do you know any gnomes who could fix my bicycle?

Hire a gnome today

I know of a bicycle repair gnome but he is currently a spokesperson for the Hire-a-Gnome society in Gnome, Alaska.

I'd love to know why this happened,

but I must say I'm floundering for an explanation.  Can you shad some light on the cause?

Finny

Something fishy is going on here, I caution us all to resist falling for the bait hook line and sinker. Are gutter fish reel? I myself was never taught this in school. So it must be true.

It takes two gutter fish to

It takes two gutter fish to make a gutter fish home. I can think of a few things... water spouts (none too frequent 'round these parts), a sick pelican (or other bird) regurgitating soon after consumption of fish - into gutter. Maybe Steven has a friend who knew a good way to get a rise out him. This is a very good way. I remember a place I lived, there was so much detritus in the gutters, and the stellars jays (in this case) would go crazy on it, there must have been bugs in there.

Can you imagine how fast nature will take over once human beings finally destroy ourselves? Our gutters will be one of the first places for nature to reestablish itself...trees will sprout from our rooves. I want to travel into the future so I can see it!

I have noticed now that

I have noticed now that Spring is approaching, those tiny birds called Gutterfishers have been active in harvesting the Gutterfish. They are small, round creatures with long, pointy beaks.
