a call for a docent's resignationThis is a call for a docent vote on the continued role of OlyBlog founder Rick McKinnon.
My vote is that Rick step down from his duties as docent and turn OlyBlog over to the Olympia community currently invested in the space as per his initial plan. I've been thinking about this awhile due to the difficulties people have separating him from OlyBlog but it was his behavior on this thread ([link]) that made up my mind. Included with this e-mail is a private message conversation Rick and I have been involved in since last week. As much of the content involves OlyBlog administration I think it should have been on the docent list for all of us to talk about from the beginning (as previously agreed upon). Re: an articleHey Rob,
I'm not sure if you forgot a link for the article or if it just didn't make it through to me, but would you please send it again? - Jason ----- Original Message ---- To: olyblogdocents@googlegroups.co m Sent: Tuesday, July 22, 2008 5:46:39 PM It's about allowing comments on blogs and news sites. - Jason Re: replacing docentsI would be extremely happy if any of them (Katherine/Chia/Epersonae) agreed to work with us as I think they're each an extremely good example of OlyBlog community.
- Jason ----- Original Message ---- To: olyblogdocents@googlegroups.co m Sent: Monday, July 14, 2008 2:47:15 PM I agree with Jason, three is a good number, and would add to the sentiment expressed on Emmett's thread, that we should add three women to the docent list. Katherine, Chia, and Epersonae have all been nominated, perhaps round two should involve asking the three of them if they want to do it. Two because we never found a replacement for Sarah. Three because maintaining an odd number of docents is good for tie breakers.
By the way, thanks everyone for kicking so much ass over the past week. I think we stepped up and knocked the ball out of the proverbial park. Re: Help with organizing book requestThanks Rick!
I learn so much through OlyBlog. Re: Help with organizing book requestGot it.
The trick is to use the "outline" tab, and then set the weight. The weight should be set to the tens value, not the number value. Then it sorts out the order within each weight automatically. Cheers, Rick Re: Help with organizing book requestIf by tonight nobody has done this (organize the new stevenl book) then I'll work on it tonight.
I agree that docents active on a thread shouldn't shut it down. I also agree that at least one warning post is good (particularly offensive comments can always be put into moderation). I still would like to see at least one docent position be dedicated to content creation and editing. As became obvious during the past few months, I literally only have time to produce content and edit or get involved in the comments (be it moderation or post moderation justification). Re: Help with organizing book requestI'm not sure how to do this, I haven't got much experience with the books
feature. I wanted to bring something up as a point of process for docents. I feel docents should be required to go through the same process as any member when it comes to content. My idea is that we could put a couple of policies in Help with organizing book request[link]
Could someone organize this collection numerically? I thought I'd Re: docent resignationKudos Emmett - your work as a docent has been inspiring. I completely
understand why you wouldn't want even the appearance of conflict between docent work and your day job. I'm glad you are still onboard the good ship OlyBlog. Sarah Re: How'd the meeting go?I think that is a premium feature. If we use it again, we'll definitely
spring for that. Cheers, Rick Re: How'd the meeting go?Does it keep an archive of the chat?

re: tonight's meetingI just sent out the chatroom invitations. I have no idea what your spam filters will do with is, so if you don't see it then check in your spam folder.
- Jason happy 4thI'm gone for the weekend, I am not sure if I will be able to check in or not. Have a good meeting.
